A Highly Visible Killing

It was the Invisible Man's annual Halloween party, and all the usual characters had arrived. Just after midnight, the Monster tripped over an invisible corpse in the kitchen. Mina Murray, adept at analyzing mysteries, stepped up to solve the case. She quickly interviewed all the party guests and compiled the following facts, but now she needs your help to put it all together.

How to play: Each of the suspects below came to the party to kill the Invisible Man. At the time of the murder, each had chosen a different weapon, had a different motive, and stood in a different location from among the cards below. One of the suspects, and only one of them, actually committed murder. Find the murderer. Your accusation must be correct in all four categories to succeed.

All the information you need to deduce the murderer is below. All facts are true. The simplest connection between two ideas is probably on the right trail.

Additional clues

Mina thanked Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde for their thorough examination of the body, which helped surface these additional clues.

  • Time of death: Midnight under a full moon.
  • Location of death: Unknown, but the body was moved afterward to the kitchen.
  • Cause of death: A bite.
  • Van Helsing saw someone at the gazebo at the time of the murder. All he could confirm was the figure was not in the shape of the werewolf.
  • A bottle of poison was found abandoned in the corner of the ballroom, with two bits of black hair stuck to the bottom.
  • Fresh dirt was discovered only in the ballroom, gazebo, and under the oak tree, and only on Larry, Victor and Sylvia.
  • Igor confessed to plotting a dark ritual with Dr. Frankenstein for the night of the party.
  • Either the sacrifice was going to be done with poison, or the delusional suspect was going to kill with a knife, but not both.
  • Dracula hinted that either Larry or Lucy had a long-term grudge against the Invisible Man, but he wouldn't say which.
